Virgina Wines come to London
De Long Wine Moment has been selected as the official blogger of the Virginia Wine Experience in London. Accept no imitation!
The event will be held at Vinopolis on 2 May, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Gallery Room. I will attend a preliminary tasting on April 30th and will post my report the day before the Vinopolis tasting.
Virginia wines as they aren't easy to get hold of out of state not to mention out of country, so this event should be particularly interesting. I had a surprisingly good 2004 Horton “The Tower Series” Norton in New York recently at the Wine Century Club's birthday party, which was more than enough to pique my curiosity, especially since this wine didn't make the cut, edged out by 3 other Nortons that will be tasted in London. Unlike Zinfandel which has been more or less adopted as America's grape variety, Norton is truly indigenous to North America.
I've also heard good things about Virginia Viognier, which is among several of other more offbeat varietal wines that will be shown at the tasting including Petit Manseng, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Vidal and Malvasia.
To find out more about the tasting and to see which wines were selected by their expert panel, please see the Virginia Wine Experience in London's Website.
